When you enter our doors, you are not just a customer. You are a connection.
As the world continues to become fast-paced, super convenient and high-tech, we are losing touch with ourselves, and each other. At New Life Family, we are passionate about getting to know our customers and doing whatever we can to make their lives better. While our team is highly trained and qualified in a variety of areas, it is our care and concern for our customers and community that set us apart.
Santhosh is the staff pharmacist and co-owner of New Life Family Pharmacy. He graduated from the University of Toronto Faculty of Pharmacy in 2010 and started his career in Woodstock at Zellers Pharmacy. He then moved to Hamilton and managed a few stores under the Rexall Banner. As each year went on his entrepreneurial hunger increased and he started to look at different opportunities! In 2016 Little Avenue Pharmacy was born, and in 2018 New Life Family Pharmacy!
Santhosh has continued to stay current and regularly adds on designations to be in the best position to care for his patients. He completed his QUIT smoking training at the Faculty of Medicine @ UofT in 2011, gained his injection training in 2012 and then progressed to become a CDE (Certified Diabetic Educator) in 2014. He has also completed the CAMH course fo Opioid use disorders in 2016.
“I enjoy being a community pharmacist because the sky is the limit when it comes to improving the physical and mental health of our communities. I enjoy coming up with creative solutions for my patients, but most of all am satisfied by the holistic and deep relationships that build over time.’’ Santhosh is happily married to Rozin, together they have a 5 year old- Noah, who is already getting to know the customers!
As your pharmacists, we care about more than just your medication profile. Our goal is to treat you and help you as a whole. Often medication is not the answer, but referral to another resource or using more natural means to alleviate your symptoms.
When it comes to mental health, we do our best to offer emotional support and referral to other agencies/resources/specialists in addition to helping you being compliant on your medications.
if you cannot reach us at the pharmacy, and it is an emergency Susan and Santhosh are ready to help. We believe in a relationship with our clients that extends beyond the walls of the pharmacy.
We have seen significant quality of life improvements in some patients who have tried Medical Cannabis for arthritis, fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis, degenerative disc disease etc.

Whether one wants to admit it or not, the issues related to addiction and mental health are all over the news and social media. Addiction has not fixed age, gender, socioeconomic status etc - in fact studies show a majority of the time it has to do with one’s childhood.
We run an addiction medicine practise like none other in Barrie! Our store environment is aesthetically pleasing, in sync with the collaborative and caring approach we take towards our patients. (include pics of counselling room).
Our doctor is a family doctor out of Bradford named Kourosh Zadhoush with a special interest in addiction medicine. He is caring, compassionate and sincere. You are not a number. You are not in and out in 2 minutes as may be your experience elsewhere. The pharmacist and the doctor partner as a team to care for you as a whole ( this may include referral to other agencies for food, debt relief, social support etc). FLEXIBLE TIMINGS! No more ‘I just missed the doctor’. We will always do our best to find a solution for you.
We are partnering with several support groups including Finding Freedom and Celebrate Recovery. These programs have a Christian focus, but equally provide coping skills and support.

A. Opioid overdoses are an epidemic in the North Simcoe Muskoka region, our pharmacists sit on committees to combat the issue at an organizational level, but are also involved in the front line, educated and distributing kits to those who come to the pharmacy. The pharmacists also have hosted several education sessions for other workers in places such including the David Busby Centre and Women’s and Children Shelter of Barrie . If your organization is interested in a Naloxone/Opioid education, we would be happy to conduct a session for you and your clients. Refer facebook for my pics talking in schools, with students
B. Education on medical cannabis as an option -cannabis for pain generally does not alter one’s mood, you do not feel ‘high’ or ‘stoned’ or ‘intoxicated’. CBD (Cannabidiol) is not psychoactive, but we are seeing a growing body of evidence on it working for arthritis, fibromyalgia, lower back pain, chronic pain etc. Our pharmacists have given talks at Nursing homes and Seniors buildings as this is a practical and less harmful alternative that may work for their pain and improve their quality of life.
C. We also believe that community is good for our mental health. For the last 1.5 years we have been having our monthly gathering at our sister store (Little Avenue Pharmacy). Our hope is to start a 2nd gathering at Newlife for this community. The gathering meetings have music, games, dinner, a message of hope and concludes in prayer.
